Looking for a Tidio alternative? Read this before you switch

Tidio is one of the most popular live-chat tools for a reason. Where Zedinga takes a different path: AI-first support, e-commerce depth, and flat pricing — with a test you can run today.

Tidio is one of the most popular live-chat and chatbot tools for small businesses, and it earned that position — the product is mature and the feature list is long. If you're reading this, you're probably evaluating whether it fits your situation, or whether a different design philosophy would serve you better. This is that comparison, written honestly by a competitor. (Features and pricing change constantly; verify the current state on their site before deciding.)

Two different starting points

The deepest difference isn't a feature — it's the starting point. Tidio is best known as a live-chat-first tool: a human-staffed chat box at the center, with automation built around it. Zedinga starts from the opposite end: the AI answers first, from your own website content, and humans step in only where the AI hands over. Which philosophy fits you depends on one question: do you have someone available to staff a live chat most of the day? If yes, a live-chat-first tool is a fine choice. If you're a small team where nobody can sit in an inbox — the AI-first design is built exactly for you.

Where the products genuinely differ

What happens when nobody's online. In Zedinga's design there is no "offline": the AI answers from your knowledge base at 3am exactly as it does at 3pm, in the customer's language (12 supported, auto-detected). Human handoff still exists — conversations land in your Live Chat inbox with the full transcript — but it's the escalation path, not the default.

E-commerce beyond a product carousel. Zedinga connects to Shopify at the data level: your catalog syncs into the bot's knowledge daily (live prices, product links), and customers can check order status inside the chat after verifying with their order number and checkout email. The AI never touches order data — the answer comes from a deterministic lookup, so there's nothing to hallucinate. If "where is my order?" is a big slice of your inbox, test this workflow specifically in every tool you evaluate.

Honesty as a feature. Zedinga's bot can be locked to answer only from your content — off-script questions get an honest "let me connect you" instead of an improvised answer. Ask any tool you evaluate: what exactly happens when the bot doesn't know?

Flat, predictable pricing. Zedinga plans are flat monthly tiers by conversation volume ($0 / $29 / $79 / $199), features listed publicly on the pricing page. Many tools in this space price by seats, by AI-conversation add-ons, or by visitor reach — none of these are wrong, but they make the real monthly cost hard to predict. Whatever you choose, model your actual volume against the pricing unit before committing.

Where Tidio may fit you better. If your team actively staffs live chat all day and you want the richest operator-side tooling for that workflow, a live-chat-first product is playing its home game. The same goes if you want a broader catalog of app integrations than we currently offer. We're a small team that goes deep on AI answer quality, e-commerce, and WhatsApp rather than wide on everything.

The switch test: one afternoon, zero risk

Don't decide from feature tables (including this one). Run the same test we recommend against any competitor:

  1. Pick your five hardest real customer questions — the nuanced ones where a wrong answer costs money or trust.
  2. Point a free Zedinga bot at your website. Setup takes minutes; no credit card.
  3. Ask the five questions and watch for the failure mode that matters: does the bot admit what it doesn't know, or does it bluff?
  4. Selling online? Ask "where is my order?" and see what the verification flow looks like.

You can even skip step 2 at first — three of our production bots are live on real businesses right now, linked on the case studies page. Interrogate those before you sign up for anything.

Start the free plan and run the test. If Tidio wins for your use case, keep Tidio — an honest comparison has to allow for that answer.
